Joomla is built and maintained entirely by volunteers. The name comes from the Swahili word jumla, meaning "all together", which is a reasonable summary of how the project works: developers, designers, translators, documentation writers, site builders and end users all contribute.
Participation happens across the Joomla.org family of sites. The forums are the usual starting point for questions and answers. Beyond that, there is a directory of Joomla events held around the world, a directory of local and virtual Joomla User Groups, and the Volunteers Portal, which lists the project teams and how to join one.

The Joomla Project is the community of people who build, translate, document and support the Joomla content management system.
Its mission is to provide a flexible platform for digital publishing and collaboration, guided by a shared set of values:
- Freedom
- Equality
- Trust
- Community
- Collaboration
- Usability
The work is done by volunteers organised into teams covering development, security, documentation, translation, events and community support. The non-profit organisation behind the project is Open Source Matters, Inc., which handles its legal, financial and organisational affairs. You can see the current teams and the people on them at volunteers.joomla.org.
Joomla is free and open source software, released under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later.

Joomla scales from a straightforward brochure site to a large content-managed site or online store. The same building blocks apply throughout: articles organised into categories, menus that decide what appears where, and modules that place additional content around the page.
The pages in this section are demonstration content. They exist to show how this template handles typical Joomla layouts — article lists, module positions, category views and search — and are not intended as a manual. Full documentation is available in the Joomla User Guide.
This content can be unpublished or deleted once the site is ready to go live.
